Why did you choose makeup artistry?

“I always wanted to be my own boss. I’m a business and computing graduate so I combined my degree with a passion for makeup. I wanted to do something I love that would be flexible around my children. As a bridal makeup artist you become part of your bride’s story, which is such a privilege and honour.”

About working with brides

“I absolutely love working with brides. You get a window into their lives at such a special time and get to witness their journey from one chapter of their life to another. It can get quite emotional because you get to know the client for months before their wedding - some of them become good friends. But being a bridal makeup artist isn't just about creating the perfect look. You have to soothe wedding jitters, be tactful and a very good listener.”

“Having my work featured in Khush Wedding was one of the greatest moments of my career. I still flip through the pages of my very first issue and have to pinch myself that I created such a stunning look. The other highlight that stands out is making up a bride who suffered from alopecia. Her biggest concern was disguising the hair loss, which was a challenge as I’d never had a client with such issues before. I’ll never forget the look on her face when I revealed her hair and makeup; I’ve never seen a bride so utterly radiant with happiness. We both teared up, it was a lovely moment.”
