Professional and renowned bridal hair and makeup stylist, Gini Bhogal, has been helping brides look flawless on their Big Day for 25 years. Gini says: “Weddings are important to me because they are the ultimate statement that two people would like to journey onto the next step in their lives. This must be celebrated in style. I adapt makeup and styles as time and fashions change, but I always get clients telling me they look like the best version of themselves, which I love!”

“Rupa’s look (below), was a fresh look for her Mandvo, which is a puja before the events begin at a wedding, also known as a Ganesh Puja. Her look was vibrant to go with the outfit by Payal Malhotra, with jewellery from Red Dot Jewels. Rupa loves a bright lip, and wanted this, plus playful eye makeup. I dusted her eyes with hot pink, made it slightly smokey to create an almond shape. Then I added a nice bright yellow to the inner corners of the eyes, and finished with a soft eyeliner flick and beautiful, simple, lashes.”

MY BRIDAL LOOK
“I loved Gini’s energy and smiley nature. She was honest in her thoughts and gave me confidence. I felt like the best version of myself and feel blessed to have had her during this special time.” Rupa

Gini Bhogal has the ability and experience to enhance a person’s features, so they look like a better version of themselves. “I got to where I am by simply putting my head down and working on brides every year. In fact, time has flown by, and I feel like I’ve adapted with all the changes that have happened in the wedding industry – and  I make sure everything is hygienic and sanitised.  With each event, as they all have different themes, this dictates the look that will suit that event. A sangeet or engagement may be understated, but playful at the same time. A wedding look however, is traditional, so you would stick to trends for a bridal look. For a reception, however, it’s a ‘let your hair down’ kind of look which is more glamorous.  We would decide the way these looks should be executed in the trial, and see what suits the bride.”

SOFT & SMOKEY
“Anu’s look (below) was put together to match her stunning Sabyasachi outfit.  Her eyes had a soft brown smokiness with a hint of colour to accentuate her eye shape. I used a foil based gold colour to pick up the embroidery in her outfit. I kept the cheeks and face matte with hints of highlighter and blush, and nude lips.”

THE LADY BEHIND THE BRUSH
“Trials are extremely important and where you can build communication and a rapport with the bride so they know what to expect for the Big Day. It’s important to make a bride feel like they’re in safe hands and they can relax! With different trials, clients can take details from different looks to be put into the final look. When someone looks at the bride they should be mesmorised by the entire look and not just focus on the lips or the eyes.”
