Readers of Khush Wedding will recognise the work of bridal hair and makeup star Reshma, whose gorgeous makeup looks have made her one of the most sought-after makeup artists in the South East. From the circus-themed campaigns to traditional bridal beauty looks, the makeup artist has demonstrated her talent across editorial, beauty and fashion shoots. Demand for Reshma's bridal services has exploded in the last five years, spurred on by her work in the pages of Khush Wedding. Here, she talks about her inspiration and love for her craft. How did you become a bridal makeup artist? I began doing makeup 7 years ago after studying as a beauty therapist at the London School Of Beauty and Makeup. I knew I wanted a career in beauty so at 18, I opened my own salon in south London. After a year, I had more than 500 regular clients on my books. But with the increased demand from friends and family to do their makeup, it made sense to go freelance. What inspires you? History inspires me greatly, especially looks from the Mughal era. I love setting myself the challenge of looking at an image from centuries ago and recreating it with a modern twist. Is there one style for all? No I don’t think there is. People have unique features and personalities, so looks really must be tailored to the individual to enhance their natural beauty. What are the SS16 bridal beauty trends? It’s all about the less is more type of makeup - soft, flawless, dewy looking skin.Reshma’s Bridal Services“My trials involve an initial thorough consultation during which I get to know the bride and and how she pictures herself on her Big Day. We’ll discuss everyday makeup and skin regimes before talking through the beauty ideas. I always advise clients to bring inspiration – it could be tear sheets, Bollywood-inspired shots, screenshots of red carpet looks on their phone – to give us a starting point. It’s also a good idea to bring along their outfit if they’ve bought it already, or images of the kind of styles they might buy so I can get an idea of how their makeup will work for their theme. Once I have their booking and confirmation of their date, I’ll create a bespoke hair and makeup look.”Party Makeup“I don't have a one look that I impose on everyone. My style of hair and makeup is always tailored to suit the individual. I find a lot of makeup artist repeat the same look over and over again but I really take pleasure in creating beautiful bespoke looks for my clients on their special day.”www.facebook.com/reshmamakeup
