There’s something rather magical about having your wedding abroad. If you’re a couple that likes to do things out of the ordinary, a faraway location could be the epitome of romance. Understanding all the splendour of Destination Weddings, I, Gagan, am an expert in enhancing your vision for your Special Day. I’ll capture all the smiles, laughter and celebrations for you to treasure for a lifetime...

How would I describe my photography style?
I love to connect a couple with surroundings and space. My intention is always to create an undertone of spirit in the images photographed. Creating pictures that have an aura of peace and stillness is always at the forefront of my mind. Colour wise, I also love using a pastel palette to create beautiful, airy and light images.

Where has been my favourite Destination Wedding location?
Gibraltar, for sure. It has so much going on - the botanical gardens were amazing and then top it all off, photographing a reception inside Saint Michael’s Cave was an amazing experience.

What’s the balance between control and  flexibility when shooting couples?
I typically would get the couples to have fun, starting with some natural photographs. As we work through the day, I would then direct them into certain poses, which would get exactly the mood we’re looking for. Initially it’s important to build a rapport and trust with a couple, this really helps form a relaxed atmosphere.

Wouldn’t it be easier to hire a wedding photographer already located abroad?
If you book a local photographer, they may approach every wedding in a set format. Having someone approach it with fresh eyes always bring out a different perspective and creativity. The most important thing is to look at the style of the photography, to see if it suits you.

What’s a photography shoot I will never forget?
Iceland - oh it was cold! But a fantastic landscape. I can’t forget the moment we drove for 5 hours, driving on solid ice to shoot in an actual ice cave.  In future I’d love to shoot a wedding in Hawaii - I love the historic culture there and there are many wonderful landscapes.

What happens behind the scenes?
I look through the images one by one to ensure there’s a consistent feel and finish to each image. The post-editing process is long, but once  finished, it’s extremely satisfying - both for myself and the wedded couple!
